Our Story
The story of Women With Bows begins on a path of struggle, resilience, and ultimately, profound transformation. Our founders are proudly walking the long and often painful road of recovery—recovery not just from addiction, but from the generational trauma, displacement, and disconnection that colonialism has imposed on Indigenous people for centuries.
This journey has not been easy. It has been filled with moments of darkness, but also with light—moments where healing began not in isolation, but in reconnection: to the land, to our ancestors, to each other, and to the sacred ways that have always lived within us.
In our lowest moments, it was our culture that called us home. It was the earth beneath our feet, the songs of our grandmothers, the medicines growing wild and free, and the ancient stories written in the stars that reminded us of who we are. This reconnection—to spirit, to ceremony, to community—is what saved us. It is what gave us purpose. It is what gave birth to Women With Bows.
We do not simply “serve” our communities; we walk with them, because we are them. Every meal we deliver, every word we speak, every storm we stand in is an offering—a commitment to live with intention, to lead with heart, and to honor the sacred responsibility we carry as Indigenous women and 2-Spirit people.
Our work goes beyond outreach—it is ceremony. It is resistance. It is a reclaiming of identity and dignity in a world that has tried to strip it away. Through national advocacy, grassroots action, and cultural revitalization, we continue to build bridges between Native and non-Native communities, rooted in mutual respect, shared humanity, and ancestral wisdom.
It is not just about feeding people; it’s about feeding the soul—nourishing bodies while preserving Indigenous foodways, language, and community healing. It is where our story continues to grow.
We are Women With Bows. Our lives are the medicine. Our recovery is our resistance. And our future is rooted in the strength of our past.
